The Delaware Veterans Trust, Inc., is a nonprofit corporation as defined by the laws of the State of Delaware. The purpose of Delaware Veterans Trust is to provide financial assistance or grants to assist Delaware Veterans with health care requirements; housing assistance, including utilities, and educational or training programs.
The Delaware Veterans Trust Fund, Inc., accomplishes this by engaging in the following activities:
(1) Raising public awareness and advocacy for the Delaware Veterans Trust Fund;
(2) Soliciting grants, donations, gifts, and legacies from other foundations, charitable organizations, veterans’ service organizations, corporations, individuals, and other entities to carry out the charitable purposes of the Delaware Veterans Trust Fund;
(3) Raising funds to assist veterans and their families with the expenses associated with shelter and the necessities of living.
The Friends of Delaware Veterans, Inc.
A 501©3 organization was founded to raise public awareness and advocacy for the Trust Fund. Its mission is to promote contributions, grants, gifts, and legacies from foundations, veteran service organizations, corporations, and individuals to endow the Trust Fund.

On September 17, 2013, Gov. Jack Markell signed HB85, which created the Delaware Veterans Trust Fund under the auspices of the Commission of Veterans Affairs. Companion Bill HB 140 created a tax check off for contributors to the fund.
The Trust Fund is administered by the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs to assist veterans in financial emergencies. Although Veterans Day is celebrated November 11, every day is Veterans Day to us at the Friends of Delaware Veterans.
